What is Checkatrade?

In the autumn of 1998 a tornado swept through the fishing village of Selsey, leaving behind hundreds of home owners with severe property damage.

Rogue traders from as far away as Liverpool travelled to Selsey to prey on the vulnerable.

The founder of checkatrade, Kevin Byrne, seeing what was happening in his home village, decided to use his marketing skills developed over 18 years to formulate a method to isolate rogue traders.

Ten years later, with the on going help and advice of trading standards, checkatrade has developed a tried and tested method that is set to become the final solution to the rogue trade problem in the U.K.
